The US mission in Nigeria says “Drop Box” visa processing is still not available in Nigeria.
The clarification came late Friday, amid rumors that the US had reintroduced the waiver program, which permitted previous travelers to bypass the formal interview process.
The nonimmigrant visa interview waiver procedure, also known as the “drop box,” has been discontinued in Nigeria since 2018, according to the US Mission.
“The State Department reviews each country’s eligibility on a regular basis, taking into account a variety of factors such as overstay rates and visa-related fraud.
“The United States Mission in Nigeria is dedicated to facilitating legal travel to the United States. All applicants who wish to apply for a visa are expected to attend an interview.
